Recognising the Lasting Contribution of Sandra Slatter
Sandra Slatter at the GreenConnect Dementia Respite official launch in 2024
The GreenConnect Dementia Respite project has grown into a vital initiative for the Loddon-Mallee thanks to the dedication of a committed team and the leadership of Sandra Slatter, our founding Project Manager.
Over the project’s first 18 months, Sandra played a key role in shaping its direction, helping to establish GreenConnect as a valuable support for people living with dementia and their carers.
With a clear focus on enhancing the quality of life for individuals affected by dementia, Sandra helped drive the development of nature-based activities, experiences, and accommodation. Her contributions laid the foundation for a project that not only provides respite but also fosters genuine connections among participants.
During her time with GreenConnect, Sandra was instrumental in several key initiatives:
Launching nature-based respite – Sandra contributed to the development of innovative respite care options, incorporating natural settings to create meaningful and engaging experiences that support wellbeing.
Identifying dementia-inclusive environments – She worked to recognise and highlight accessible spaces suited to the needs of people living with dementia, collaborating with local businesses and organisations to support inclusivity.
Ensuring inclusive design – From the outset, Sandra helped shape the project to be welcoming and accessible to First Nations, LGBTQIA+, and culturally and linguistically diverse communities, ensuring GreenConnect meets the needs of a wide range of participants.
As Sandra steps down from her role as Project Manager, we extend our sincere thanks for her dedication and the contributions she has made. The strong foundations she helped establish will continue to support GreenConnect’s growth and impact in the years ahead.
