Morning Tea at Peppergreen Farm and Garden Wander
A delicious morning tea and leisurely stroll around Peppergreen Farm was recently enjoyed by Bendigo GreenConnect participants.
Familiar faces warmly welcomed four new participants as the day began with house baked scones, cakes and slices in the Peppergreen Farm café. Jade Field, Bendigo Respite Care Coordinator, and Catherine Hyett, GreenConnect Project Manager, provided introductions and chatted amongst the group.
It was wonderful to catch up with everyone, with much discussion about the hot weather and a very disappointing summer of home grown veggies. The bountiful produce for sale in the Peppergreen Farm café had participants sharing tips and tricks for the upcoming autumn growing season.
Feeling refreshed after morning tea, participants then enjoyed a stroll around the seasonal market garden at Peppergreen Farm. Garden beds filled with amaranth, cosmos, gourds, zucchini and summer vegetables galore were a feast for the eyes. Participants enjoyed touching and smelling plants to identify the abundant herbs growing around the farm.
Some thoughts shared throughout the morning included:
“It’s wonderful to see some new faces come along to join us”
“Mum doesn’t really like getting out of the house but she’s really enjoying this”
“We haven’t visited here before but it’s really lovely”
“That date scone was absolutely delicious!”
“I’m looking forward to coming along next time”
