Working Together to Create Success: GreenConnect Workshop Brings Teams Together
On Wednesday 4 September, Heathcote Dementia Alliance (HDA) hosted a team workshop that marked a pivotal moment in fostering collaboration between HDA board members and the newly appointed GreenConnect Dementia Respite Project team. The gathering was a unique opportunity for members to meet face-to-face, gain a deeper understanding of each other’s roles, and align their collective vision for the future of dementia care.
The workshop created a channel for transparent dialogue about project goals, responsibilities, and process development, with an emphasis on clear communication and teamwork. Catherine, the Project Team Leader, shared her thoughts on the experience:
“I gained a deeper understanding of the project’s history, goals and the importance of aligning our vision as a team. The discussions on process development and collaboration highlighted the value of clear communication and shared responsibility. One of the key takeaways was recognising the diverse strengths within the team, which will be important in overcoming challenges and driving innovation within the project. I am excited for the future of this team, and the success we will witness together within the GreenConnect project.”
The event also provided an energising moment for newly appointed team members, who saw the workshop as a space to share ideas and strengthen connections. Jade, Respite Care Coordinator for the Bendigo and Heathcote region, expressed her excitement about the shared commitment within the group:
“The workshop was a great opportunity to bring together a group of passionate and skilled individuals, each with their own important contributions to make to HDA and GreenConnect. I felt reassured and energised by the discussion and am extremely fortunate to be part of such an empathetic and dedicated team, united in the common goal of improving the lives of those living with dementia and their carers.”
The workshop was not only about planning and process; it also highlighted the team’s passion and potential for impact. A newly appointed HDA Board Member reflected on the long-term vision:
“It was very motivating to meet the broader team and appreciate their huge commitment and breadth of experience. I am delighted to have joined the Board, as I now see what tremendous potential this organisation has to make a real difference to people living with dementia and their carers. I believe we will look back in 5-10 years and see that we were truly pioneers in a new and adaptive way of tackling what is a growing health issue in Australia.”
With such strong alignment and dedication, the future of the GreenConnect Dementia Respite project looks promising. The collaborative spirit, wealth of experience, and shared vision from both the HDA Board and GreenConnect team will be crucial in addressing the growing challenges of dementia care in Australia. The workshop’s success underscores the importance of teamwork in driving innovation and creating meaningful change for those living with dementia and their caregivers.
