About Mildura Station Homestead
The Mildura Station Homestead is a reconstruction of the first home built in Mildura circa 1847, standing near the original site of the Mildura pastoral lease and station, established by the Jamieson brothers. This historic location played a pivotal role in the Chaffey brothers’ vision for Mildura’s transformation into an irrigation colony.
The homestead precinct includes a cottage, woolshed, rose garden, and riverboat display, offering a glimpse into the early days of settlement and irrigation development.
The original homestead, used as both a family home and business headquarters by George Chaffey, was demolished in 1923, but its significance led to a faithful reconstruction, completed in 1984 with the support of the Mildura community.
Today, the homestead stands as a living museum, showcasing the pioneering spirit that shaped the region, while also serving as a venue for community events, weddings, and special gatherings.
