Gardening Sessions Details
When: Every second Friday
Time: 10:00am – 12:00pm
Where: Atisha Buddhist Centre, Bendigo
Special Note: This Friday, 16 August, lunch will be at the StupaView Cafe at the Great Stupa due to a retreat at the Atisha Centre.
What to Expect
Under the expert guidance of Helen Cook and monk Thupten Chodak, our community garden is blossoming into a sanctuary of growth and connection. Here’s what’s been happening:
Recent Highlights
The shed is up, gravel flooring is down, and it’s fully equipped for propagating.
With support from the WISE Employment group, we’ve installed 4 small wicking beds, 2 large wicking beds, 2 bench seats, and 2 bridges.
Kev is busy constructing our FoodCage with newly delivered timber.
Thanks to Highways and Byways, we’ve added 3 corrugated garden beds, now filled with cardboard, sticks, leaves, and soil. Kev is preparing the site for our new water tank and pump.
This Week’s Session
On Friday, 16 August, we’re thrilled to be joined by participants from Bendigo & District Aboriginal Co-operative. They’ll be sharing their expertise on bush tucker foods, and we’ll be working on propagating native plants, marking out the irrigation system, and painting the posts for our FoodCage.
After our gardening session, enjoy a delicious lunch at the StupaView Cafe, a temporary venue while the Atisha Centre hosts a retreat.
Get Involved
Your involvement helps transform our garden into a thriving, therapeutic space. Come and be a part of our growing community – cultivate hope, learn new skills, and enjoy the camaraderie of fellow gardeners.
Let’s make a difference together, one garden session at a time!
