Bendigo District Aboriginal Co-operative Visits Costerfield House

Recently, members of the Bendigo District Aboriginal Co-operative (BDAC) had the opportunity to tour Costerfield House in Heathcote, soon to be relocated to Reflections at Eppalock. The visit was part of an ongoing collaboration aimed at enhancing dementia care in the region. The new location, which will also be home to the Jin Lab Garden, is set to offer a supportive and enriching environment for visitors.

The BDAC group’s visit to Costerfield House provided a valuable opportunity to explore the house’s features before its official move. The visitors were notably impressed by the innovative design elements, including the Murphy pull-down bed and the accessible bathroom facilities, which reflect GreenConnect's commitment to creating practical and welcoming spaces for people living with dementia.

Costerfield House will be relocated to Reflections at Eppalock, a location that will also host the Jin Lab Garden. This move represents a significant step in enhancing the environment for visitors, integrating features that cater to various needs and preferences. The new location promises to offer an inclusive atmosphere, enriched by the addition of the Jin Lab Garden, which will further support the community’s engagement and wellbeing.

The visit to Costerfield House was met with enthusiasm, with several BDAC members expressing interest in utilising the overnight stay opportunity once the relocation is complete. This interest underscores the potential for ongoing collaboration between GreenConnect and BDAC, aimed at enhancing dementia care while honouring cultural sensitivities.

This partnership exemplifies GreenConnect’s dedication to fostering inclusive, culturally respectful environments for all, and we look forward to the continued development of this meaningful collaboration.

As Costerfield House prepares for its transition to Reflections at Eppalock, the integration of the Jin Lab Garden and the ongoing support from partners like BDAC signal a bright future for creating comprehensive and supportive spaces for people living with dementia and their carers.
